Mercedes Benz Museum in Stuttgart

All changes, even the most longed for, have their melancholy; for what we leave behind us is a part of ourselves; we must die to one life before we can enter another. Anatole France

And what better way to start than talking about change, because this is what my previous months have all been about. I have left a great team behind to join another team with wonderful people. Of course melancholy can be there, but one needs to know how to make the best of the past memories and to build even better ones with the people who are now in your life.

One of these changes in my life has brought me closer to a city I had not visited before in Germany, Stuttgart, and closer to old and new people in my life, but also to the automobile history. Even if it's not in my top 3 cities to visit, it does have a certain appeal, and once the sun is up, the city center smiles and becomes very lively. People are friendly and the streets,...the streets have seen me walking there with my friends, enjoying every free minute I could have. It is the city I learned to know someone and the city I found what I was missing for a long time in my life. Stuttgart has shown me just how good change can be in your life, even if it's just a change of attitude.

Built on the automobile history of Daimler and Mercedes, the Mercedes Benz Museum is a shrine to change. Just by taking a walk through this building you are taking a walk through 125 years of history. The automobiles are placed in a historic time-frame, so it is easy to see how the cars and their usage as well as their functionality have evolved with the constant change of needs. The ultra-modern architecture of the museum building does not for one second steal from the magic of the vehicles, au contraire, it highlights them better and makes them the stars of the show.

Once you start the tour and you take the elevator to the highest floor, you get out and see, to your surprise probably, a horse. But what is under the horse is a quotation which shows how much people can be wrong in rejecting evolution. The Emperor Wilhelm the II. said he believes in the horse, as the automobile is nothing more than a transitory phenomenon.

Change is not easy,...and it takes a lot of broken dreams and a lot of work and sweat, a lot of pain and sometimes also compromise,...but it's the natural way of life, and if we reject it, we might just turn into people who don't live in our time and who are just shadows for this world.

My life has always been a constant change, sometimes it was planned, sometimes it took me by surprise,... but I learned from every step I took and I am proud of where I stand now. And all these previous months I have learned that there are no boundaries where there is will. And that's exactly what you can see in this museum in Stuttgart....

Sleepy Monday

Because it's Monday and I've been in a long blogging pause, let's start off with this amazing view of the fish-tank-headboard. Imagine how relaxed you would be falling asleep there. Just like being on holiday. And not a cheap one. This tank which takes up to 650 gallons of water costs over 11.500$, it's custom made,...and this sum doesn't include installation. Nor the electricity bill afterwards. But what wouldn't people do for a good night's sleep?

Gucci Goes to London

I just had to show this to you guys the moment it was on Gucci's Facebook page - I just love this collection. They say it's for globetrotters, jet-setters or just those who love special accessories, but I see it a great must-have for this year, with the Olympics taking place in London. Because this is London I see on the bag, the shoes, the iPad case, the sunglasses etc.
In case you recognize any other city landmarks, just let me know.

With Fashion and Cupcakes - A Great Way to Meet Friends!

Sometimes, after long time of not seeing a dear person in your life, you get a chance so all you do is put some nice clothes on, the friendly smile, and you just grab the next cab to the place they are at. This happened to me a while ago when I heard that my friend Ioana from Fashezine is organizing together with other great people a event which was called pop-up store. It was held at this "hidden treasure" Joie de Vivre and was a fashionable cocktail between BONE jewelry, Coca Zaboloteanu Shoes and Eugenia Enciu clothes. Organised with the great help of two wonderful ladies, Diana and Alina. Oh, and thanks to the lovely half of Ioana, I managed to get some pictures of me as well,...thank you Tudor! Unfortunately I don't really remember who made the small cupcakes, but they tasted as good (or maybe better) as they looked,..so if anyone would like to leave a comment with the baker's name, I would highly appreciate it!

Cupcakes, sun, fun,...all you need on a wonderful weekend.
But guess there's one more thing I need, and hope that Ioana can fulfill my wish: that BONE necklace I am wearing is just so great - I know it's limited edition, but I know you'll find something for me! Thanks!
For you all who couldn't make it,...just enjoy the pictures :)

Happy 1st of May!

Wishing all of you a very happy 1st of May!
One of the really nice tradition I learned of in Monaco was the giving as a gift lilies of the valley. They are supposed to bring you happiness, well-being.
And because Dior posted this on YouTube, I am sending you a very special "muguet" for the 1st of May this year and wishing you a very nice month. Enjoy the nice weather!

Easter Special - Egg Hunt by Faberge

Easter is almost here and what better way to enjoy it than with a one of a kind Egg Hunt in THE city of the Olympics this year - London!

210 eggs (created by names such as Mulberry, Diane Von Furstenberg, Selfriges a.o.) have been put o display for The Grand Eggstravaganza! in Covent Garden where they can be admired 2rd to 9th of April. Hurry up and have a look at what you will be searching for aftwerwards in London's city for 40 days and nights.

There is of course a nice surprise behind this "treasure hunt" - there are keywords to be found on each egg, and for each correct one submitted, there will be one more chance for you in a draw which could have you at the end as the winner of the Faberge Diamond Jubilee Golden Egg (estimated around 100.000 pound sterling - see picture below). Enjoy the hunt and don't forget to be a kid again!

Oh, and one more thing - if you decide to, and it is still available, you can own an egg of the 210, just by winning an auction for it, so start bidding now!
